"STONITH" is the name Panthera Krause chose for his third EP on Riotvan. Originally used as an acronym in IT, the single letters stand for "Shoot The Offending Node In The Head", which basically means that you better should turn off an out-of-line cluster before the error starts to spread all over. But anyone who is familiar with Krause's productions knows: the best place to step out of the line is on the dance floor. Inside the data nodes of his machines, harmony is the key element in generating deeply effective club tracks. And as such, strung like pearls on a chaplet, the tunes unfold their character one by one: shimmering details of sound reverberate on the surface and the clever song writing makes this EP very enjoyable in a living room surrounding. Yet, the striking grooves yield the best results when played at proper volume, unleashing that confident and ever charming bounce.
"Twerk It", the very deliberately positioned A1, offers a pointed introduction to the EP. A steady sphere of tinkling, pulsating bass sounds and synth pads, it condenses the moods within the arrangement at one moment and opens up the track infinitely in the next one. Just as if it would represent the richness of a whole lifetime in only 6 minutes.
“Take Me" pursues a similar dramaturgy, albeit with the help of a completely different set of sonar tools. What starts out as a cool and easy broken beat quickly evolves via liquid phantasms into nothing less than far out Space Odysseys.
"Stonith" is the secret star of the record, which Krause decided to put flipside of the EP. It is an absolutely irresistible electro tune whose crystal-clear sound language unmistakably exists to initiate the peak time.
The artwork of the EP is again done by Panthera Krause himself and is brilliantly following the footsteps of the formal aesthetic inclination which he already established on his first two Riotvan Releases.
"Stonith" will be released on the 10th of February 2017 and will be distributed in cooperation with Muting The Noise.
